All the gardening rules tell us not to plant during summer, but sometimes rules are meant to be broken! If you feel like adding some colour to the garden over the Labour Day long weekend – check out this list of hardy stunners.
The bright and cheery Vinca (pictured left) makes an excellent border plant and often survives over summer to flower again the following year. Vincas are related to the Oleander and Frangipani and come in both bright colours and pastel shade.
Related to the Tobacco family, Petunias are as tough as old boots (pictured middle) and are rarely attacked by pests or diseases. Petunias are great for hanging baskets or mass planted into your flower beds.
Another great border plant is the Ageratum (pictured right). These little plants with their soft blue flowers are great for summer planting.
